Congratulations to Loveleen Sidhu, Class of 2017, on receiving a ManCap Foundation Award. The ManCap Foundation Award honours 6 youths annually in Alberta, Canada who have shown a keen interest in entrepreneurship and investing in their education. The recognition provides a token investment in the educational and entrepreneurial visions of the awardees through a $4000 monetary award. Loveleen Sidhu has proven to be a winning candidate given her life-long devotion to community service, her passion for social-entrepreneurship, and her core beliefs. Loveleen believes that it is not the challenges that a person confronts in their lives that determine their success or failure, but their response to those challenges. For Loveleen, learning and growing from one’s mistakes paves a path to success. Loveleen conveyed this in her application for the award, expressing her conviction that entrepreneurship for her would be a process of applying lessons she has learnt all her life and concepts that have a personal meaning for her, including innovation, leadership, and life-long learning.
The ManCap Foundation was established in 1996 by the ManCap Group of Companies as a non-profit, federally registered charitable organization. The ManCap Foundation has raised over $1,000,000 to support entrepreneurship and leadership in Alberta's youths. Loveleen Sidhu, who is currently a student at the University of Alberta, has volunteered at various non-profit events in Edmonton, such as the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation (CBC) Turkey Drive in 2015, the Stollery Family Classic in 2016, and the Festival of Trees in 2015 and 2016. All year long, Loveleen has worked closely with her mentor, Dr. Irehobhude Iyioha, on both her educational and entrepreneurial plans, and to build a successful business plan for which she received the ManCap Foundation Award. The PEIF Fund, Inc. equips its mentees with skill-set in educational, professional, and entrepreneurial endeavours through one-on-one mentorship session, as well as through online and traditional conferences.
